Modesty was formed in 1999 by Phil Spear and Jon Winstanley and, due to a dedication to quality and customer service, quickly grew into one of, if not the, largest and most well-respected carpentry companies in Mallorca and the Western Mediterranean area. They developed over the years into two separate teams with one specialising in teak deck works capping rails, gratings and the other in interior refits, exterior furniture so as to be able to provide a full service to all their clients.

After their workshops were damaged in 2008, they took the opportunity to rebuild and restructure their ethos and workshops. In addition to putting through a secondary floor, giving them over 2000 m2 of workshop and office space, they also modernised their machinery and have perfected a revolutionary system for producing pre-fabricated decks.

Using non-invasive laser measuring equipment and CNC machinery, Modesty can measure, design and fabricate a new deck accurate to within 0.5mm over 45mts. This deck would then be stored until the vessel was ready for the deck to be laid. All aspects of the construction are carried out under controlled conditions and all stages of bonding are carried out using modern vacuum techniques. Another great advantage of Modesty's deck construction is that all the stages of measuring and design are carried out in-house given them a far greater control over the end results.

Modesty Interiors has it’s own workshops alongside Modesty Yacht Carpentry, adding another 1000m2 to Modesty’s floor space, and has an in-house interior design department enabling them to offer a complete interior refit service. Whether to co-ordinate a project with the owner's design team or provide a complete turn-key service Modesty can offer an unsurpassed service with total control from the initial concept right through to the handing over of the finished product.
